Eleventh Annual Report 2009-10

General Body Meeting
            The General Body meeting of the Association was held at CCHAU Hisar on 26 November 2009 at 1700 hrs. The House approved the audit report and annual report presented by the Secretary for year 2008-09. GB approved the names of scientists felicitated by the Association during Hisar seminar. House also approved the proposal for holding next national seminars during 2010-2011 at Pune and thereafter at BCKV, Mohanpur WB.

Executive Council
            During the year under report the EC held a on 26 Nov.-2009 at Hisar and 11 Dec 2009 at IIT Roorkee. EC approved the recommendations made during Hisar seminar. Further EC also approved the awardees of Dr PD Mistry award and Prof PSN Sastry award.

Enrollment of Members
             During the year 2009-2010, 55-life members were enrolled with Association. Thus the total number of life memberships increased up to 593 by the end of March 2010. A total of 60 annual members were enrolled during the year 2009.

Organization of seminar
            During the year Association had organized its 4th national seminar on “Agrometeorology- Needs, Approaches and Linkages for Rural Development” on 26 and 27 November 2009 at CCS HAU, Hisar. The proceedings of seminar been brought out in Vol. 11, 2009 of special issue of Journal of Agrometeorology. Hisar Chapter of Association in general and Dr Diwan Singh and Surender Singh deserve due credit for making the seminar a great success and bringing the timely publication of the proceedings.

Financial Status

As per audit report during the year 2009-2010 total income was Rs 1,18,066/- and the total expenditure was Rs.2,03,742/-giving deficit of Rs.85,676/- A sum of Rs. 14,70,374/- has been kept as fixed deposit with Central Bank of India which include FD for awards and memorial lecture.

Best Thesis Award

 For “Dr. P D Mistry award for the best Ph.D thesis in Agricultural Meteorology” for years 2009, two nominations were received. The thesis of Dr Asis Mukherjee was adjudged as the best one.
For “Prof PSN Sastry award for best M.Sc. thesis in Agricultural Meteorology” only one thesis was received which was recommended for the award.
Awards and certificates to both the recipients will be handed over to them during next GB meeting.

Publication of Journal of Agrometeorology
Journal of Agrometeorology is published twice in a year appearing in June and December. The journal is well appreciated by National and International organizations. It is being indexed by CAB International, Current contents, INSDOC and others indexing agencies. During year 2009, 47 papers were received, 20 papers were published /accepted, 25 papers were rejected and rests are under processing of revision. The Journal is also rated by NAAS. Application has been submitted to NAAS for updating the rating of the journal.
Best paper award: Association has instituted best paper awards for papers published in two years. It is in process for selecting the best paper published in the journal during 2008 and 2009.
