ASSOCIATION OF AGROMETEOROLOGISTS
ANNOUNCEMENT

 
Nomination for the FELLOWS of Association of Agrometeorologists
 

Association has instituted the award of Fellows of Association of Agrometeorologists (FAAM). The award will be given every year to the well deserving candidates. The award may consist of a citation, a shawl or memento or cash or all of them. The Executive Committee may decide/recommend the nature of award to be given.


The nominations are invited from the Life Members of the Association having at least Ten years of membership of the association. The interested members may send their application in the prescribed form nominated by two FELLOWS or HONORARY FELLOWS of the Association.


The application form can be obtained from the Secretary of the Association or can be downloaded from the Association website www.agrimetassociation.org. Six copies of the application should be submitted to the Secretary at following address so that it reaches before August 31.

The last date for receipt of nomination is 31st August.

“Dr. P.D Mistry Award for the Best Ph. D. Thesis in Agricultural Meteorology”

“Dr. P.D Mistry Award for the Best Ph. D Thesis in Agricultural Meteorology” is instituted in the honour of Dr. P.D. Mistry, Ex. Professor and Head, Department of Agricultural Meteorology, B.A. College of Agriculture, Gujarat Agricultural University, Anand. The award is awarded annually and is restricted in the subject of Agricultural Meteorology/Agricultural Physics (Meteorology) only.  Thesis recommended by the university/institute for award of Ph. D degree during July to June will be taken into consideration for the award. Only that thesis shall be entitled for the award, which had not won any other award previously.

Awardee will be presented a gold medal and a certificate at the annual General Body meeting of the Association. In addition, the recipient may be considered for reimbursement of expenses such as TA/DA, registration fee etc. incurred by him/her for attending such meeting of the Association.
Entries are invited in the prescribed format for consideration of Award.

The last date for receipt of entries is August 15.

“Prof PSN Sastry Awards* for Best M.Sc. Thesis in
Agricultural Meteorology

“Prof P. S. N. Sastry Gold Medal” for the Best M.Sc. Thesis in Agricultural Meteorology and its allied disciplines is instituted in the honour of Prof P S N Sastry, Ex. Professor, Division of Agricultural Physics, IARI, New Delhi. The award is awarded annually and is restricted to Indian students submitting their M.Sc. in Agricultural Meteorology and its allied discipline in any recognized institute in India.  Thesis recommended by the university/institute for award of M.Sc. degree during July to June will be taken into consideration for the award. Only that thesis shall be entitled for the award, which had not won any other award previously.

Awardees will be presented a Gold medal and a Certificate at the Annual General Body meeting of the Association. In addition, the recipient may be considered for reimbursement of expenses such as TA/DA, registration fee etc. incurred by him/her for attending such meeting of the Association..

Entries are invited in the prescribed format for consideration of Award. The last date for receipt of entries will be 15 August .

Dr. S. Venkataraman Young Scientist Award

“Dr. S. Venkataraman Young Scientist Award” is instituted in the honour of Dr. S. Venkataraman retired Director, IMD and former WMO/FAO Expert, with the funds donated by him to Association of Agrometeorologists to encourage/ motivate young Indian for high quality fundamental or applied research in the field of Agricultural Meteorology. The award will be awarded every year. Life members of Association of Agrometeorologists of age not more than 40 years as on 31st December only are eligible to apply for award.

Scientists interested to apply for the award should send SIX copies their application in the prescribed form through proper channel (through the University/ Institute concerned) along with supporting documents.  The application should be submitted to the Secretary at following address so that it reaches before August 31.

A panel of judges nominated by the Executive Council of the Association will evaluate all the nominations. The evaluation report of the judges will be sent to the Executive Council, whose decision will be final.

The recipient of the award is expected to deliver a talk based on his contributions submitted for the award.
Awardee will be presented a Gold medal and a Certificate at the Annual General Body meeting of the Association. In addition, the recipient may be considered for reimbursement of expenses such as TA/DA, registration fee etc. incurred by him/her for attending such meeting of the Association.

Dr. S. Venkataraman best paper Award

“Dr. S. Venkataraman Best Paper Award” is instituted in the honour of Dr. S. Venkataraman retired Director, IMD and former WMO/FAO Expert, with the funds donated by him to Association of Agrometeorologists to encourage/ motivate for high quality research in the field of Agricultural Meteorology. The paper published by an Indian in any Indian Journal that contributes to the “Mitigation of Abiotic and Biotic Stresses on Crop Production" in India will be considered for this award. It will be awarded every year. The paper published during June on above theme will be considered for the award .

           Scientists interested to apply for consideration of award should submit SIX copies their application in the prescribed form signed by all authors along with the research paper. The applicant must be a life member of Association. The application should be submitted to the Secretary at following address so that it reaches before August 31.
