Welcome to Association of Agrometeorologists

The Association of Agrometeorologists was registered under the society and trust registration acts with it Head Quarter at Anand, Gujarat, India on the eve of WMO Day in March 1999.  As per new bye-laws adopted in 2003, the zonal representatives were also nominated. Since its inception, the Association has been constantly expanding both in terms of its membership and activities. At present, the total membership of the Association is nearly 550. With its growing popularity and expansion, Association has been able to reach not only to meteorological and agrometeorological communities but also amongst a wide spectrum of scientists across the globe of allied fields such as agronomy, soil science, horticulture, entomology, plant pathology, agricultural engineering, plant physiology, ecology, agricultural statistics, environmental sciences, animal sciences etc.

Association organizes its activities from HQ office at Anand Agricultural University, Anand, Gujarat. Its first chapter was established at CCSHAU, Hisar, Haryana in 2004.  The Association has successfully organized its national seminars in 2001 and 2003 at Anand and Ludhiana respectively. Recently it has organized its first International Symposium on “Agrometeorology and Food Security” (INSAFS) at CRIDA, Hyderabad which was a great success. Association has organized the third national seminar at Anand during Nov.10-13, 2008 and forth-national seminar is being organized at Hisar during Nov. 26-27, 2009.

The Association is publishing its half yearly journal “Journal of Agrometeorology” regularly since 1999, which is being indexed in most of the indexing services. To encourage agrometeorological research in the country, Association has instituted “Dr. P. D. Mistry Gold Medal” award for best Ph. D. Thesis in Agricultural Meteorology. Similarly the award for best M. Sc. Thesis in Agricultural Meteorology is also being awarded in the honour of Prof. P.S. N. Sastri. The Association has also instituted an award for the Best Paper published in the Journal of Agrometeorology.  Association also organizes Dr. L A Ramdas Memorial Lecture on different aspect of Agrometeorology.

Association of Agrometeorologists had its web site hosted by M/s Metos Instruments India Pvt. Ltd New Delhi since 2003 (Agrimetassociation.com) for which Association expresses its gratitude to Dr. Goel for providing this service free of cost.  Members of Association expressed that Association should have its independent website so that it can be made dynamic as per our need and to keep members aware of the updated information on their research papers. Hence, new domain name www.agrimetassociation.org was registered to fill this gap as we intend to provide as much information as possible through this site. We hope that the site will serve a useful purpose in this regard. We shall welcome any constructive suggestion for improvement of the site.

We wish to have contact details of all its members on this website. Members are requested to send their contact details to Association by email at info@agrimetassociation.org.
